Johnson was born, raised and later served as a teacher, assistant principal and principal in New Mexico, before moving to Colorado with his family in 2001. A proud, first generation graduate from Eastern New Mexico University, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree and Master’s in Education.

Johnson lives with his wife, Aimee, who is currently a kindergarten teacher. He has two amazing kids: Rigby, a graduate student at Metro State University, and Claire, a recent graduate of the University of Colorado Boulder, and a far less amazing dog, Ginger.
