For Paris M. Di Tommaso, the hum of an engine isn’t just noise—it’s a calling. She grew up hearing stories about Emily Griffith Technical College from her father, who built a career as an HVAC technician after training there. That family legacy planted a seed early: skilled trades could change a life. Today, Paris is forging her own path in the Automotive Service program, determined to prove that the garage can be a place for everyone.
“I first learned about Emily Griffith through my family,” Paris says. “My father attended this school and became an HVAC technician and inspired me to believe in the power of skilled trades.”
Set to graduate in October 2025, she’s already thinking bigger than a single job title. She wants to redefine what success in the automotive industry looks like—and who gets to claim it. “My dream is to make a positive and meaningful impact in the automotive industry not only by repairing vehicles, but by breaking barriers and inspiring others to pursue careers in the trades, especially young women and students from underrepresented backgrounds,” she says.
That vision took resilience to hold onto. After losing a parent, Paris faced overwhelming financial hardship that nearly ended her education altogether. “Scholarships made it possible for me to stay enrolled, focused, and determined to succeed,” she explains. Without that support, she would have had to abandon her training and potentially struggle to survive. Instead, she’s thriving.
Emily Griffith offered something Paris couldn’t find anywhere else: a place where potential matters more than pedigree. “This school offers something truly unique: a real, guaranteed chance to succeed,” she says. “The hands-on learning, the supportive community, and the deep-rooted mission to serve students of all backgrounds make it unlike any other place.”
Her passion hasn’t gone unnoticed. In 2025, Paris became a Student Ambassador, a role that has allowed her to share her story and help others find their footing. “In my role as a leader, I support new students, help promote campus events, and work to inspire others by showing that with passion and dedication, anything is possible in this industry,” she says. “I also want to make trade school more appealing to younger generations, especially young women, by showing them the valuable opportunities and rewarding careers available in the skilled trades.”
In the automotive service program workshop, Paris helps keep tools organized, assists her classmates, and sets the tone with her work ethic and attitude. “Being an ambassador gives me the chance to build confidence, connect with others, and inspire change through leadership and teamwork,” she says. For Paris, every wrench she turns is part of a bigger effort to make the industry more inclusive and welcoming.
Her gratitude for the donors who make scholarships possible is personal and profound. “To anyone considering donating to the Emily Griffith Foundation, I want you to know your generosity has the power to completely change someone’s future. I’m living proof,” Paris says. “Your gift isn’t just financial help—it’s hope, it’s stability, and it’s a second chance.”
She’s already planning how to pay it forward. “My goal is to take the opportunity you’ve given me and turn it into something even bigger. This is just the beginning.”
In a field still dominated by men, Paris is determined to show what leadership can look like when it comes with compassion, skill, and a determination to lift others up. And at Emily Griffith Technical College, she’s found the place—and the people—to make it happen.
