Allen Staver
Former General Counsel

Allen grew up in Denver, attended the Denver Public Schools, and graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School. He went on to receive his undergraduate degree from Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts, and a law degree from Lewis & Clark Law School in Portland, Oregon in 1979. He returned to Denver and began working for the law firm of Hughes & Dorsey practicing business law. He left private practice in 1987 and became an in-house attorney for the University of Colorado at its Health Sciences Center Campus in Denver until 1999. He then served as General Counsel and Secretary to the Board of Directors of University of Colorado Hospital from 2000 until 2018 and as General Counsel to UCHealth from 2012 until his retirement in 2018. Allen spent most of his 39-year legal career advising tax-exempt organizations in the areas of real estate, corporate governance, joint ventures, finance, and general business. He and his wife, Kim Benson, have one daughter.
