POSITION: Executive Director, Emily Griffith Foundation

REPORTS TO: Emily Griffith Foundation Board of Directors

BASIC FUNCTION: Provides excellent proactive leadership, management, strategy and fundraising for the Emily Griffith Foundation, in alignment and support of the needs of Emily Griffith Technical College (EGTC) and its students as well as championing workforce education both in Colorado and nationally. Carries out plans and policies authorized by the Board.



  • Provides leadership for the Board tied to the overall strategic plan

  • Plans agendas and content for Board meeting in collaboration with Board chair

  • Manages Emily Griffith Foundation staff, operations, and volunteers

  • Mentors and contributes to the professional development of Foundation staff

  • Promotes a culture of equity, collaboration, and transparency with both Foundation and EGTC staff

  • In conjunction with the Board and the Executive Director of EGTC, recruits new Board members who have fundraising capability, knowledge, contacts and leadership

  • Oversees database management

  • Oversees all other office activities, correspondence, and business matters

Budget and Financial Management:

  • Develops annual budget for Board approval, with increasingly higher annual fundraising goal

  • Monitors revenue and expenses and ensures fiscal responsibility

  • Maintains financial records in accordance with federal, state, and nonprofit guidelines

  • Oversees distribution of funds according to Board priorities and donor requests

  • Ensures robust financial viability and appropriate fiscal management

EGTC Integration:

  • Works closely with Executive Director of EGTC to identify funding priorities that align with the EGTC Strategic Plan priorities

  • Develops relationships with EGTC senior leadership to identify and create innovative funding opportunities

  • Initiates effective processes with school to insure grant/scholarship compliance and utilization

Overall Fundraising:

  • Develops and implements timely strategic fundraising plan for donations from a variety of sources, including foundations (local and national), corporations, institutions and individuals

  • In conjunction with EGTC, researches, identifies and prioritizes donor opportunities including scholarship funds, capital campaign, building renovation, programs, special projects, endowment and sponsorships

  • Proactively identifies existing and new fundraising sources and links donor interests with EGTC needs and fundraising opportunities

  • Maintains ongoing relationships with existing donors through regular, consistent communication, including face to face contact

  • Develops compelling grant proposals and other written materials to seek funding; meets all deadlines

  • Utilizes appropriate technology for fundraising, efficiency and donor cultivation/management

Public Relations/Marketing:

  • Oversees development and distribution of Foundation publications and marketing materials, including annual reports, newsletters, and Foundation website

  • Maintains visibility and leadership in the community, especially in conjunction with potential donors

  • Coordinates Foundation marketing activities with EGTC marketing efforts to ensure alignment and consistency of public messaging between both organizations

Event Management:

  • Creates, identifies and implements fundraising events for College and Foundation

  • Analyzes effectiveness of event fundraising and makes necessary adjustments

  • Ability to manage national Symposium highlighting workforce education

  • Identifies and utilizes creative methods of engaging current and potential donors

Other Professional Activities:

  • Serves as liaison between Emily Griffith Technical College and the Foundation, including serving on EGTC committees as appropriate and building relationships with school faculty and staff

  • Maintains and cultivates cooperative relationships with the community and serves as a spokesperson for the Foundation by, for example, meeting with community leaders and promoting community awareness of the Emily Griffith Foundation and EGTC

  • Maintains a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in the nonprofit field

  • Generally champions workforce education and thought leadership of the same through interactions with all professional contacts

  • Performs other related duties, as assigned by the Board of Directors


  • Bachelor’s degree in business, communications or related field

  • Experience in leading and managing a board of directors

  • Ability to develop, implement and achieve strategic goals

  • Financial knowledge and financial management

  • Personal community leadership and knowledge of key contacts

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in fundraising and talent for matching donor interests with current or potential programs. Donor cultivation skills and results in working with high-profile donors

  • Expertise in creating and building corporate partnerships and knowledge of the metro Denver/Colorado funding community, including individuals, foundations, corporations and others

  • Ability to work with diverse populations and commitment to equity in all personal and professional dealings

Additional Desired Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Nonprofit Management or related field

  • Capital campaign experience, knowledge of Planned Giving strategies, and knowledge of national funders

  • Marketing and communications experience

  • Higher education knowledge and experience and a passion for education

PAY RANGE: $110,000+ (commensurate with experience)
